The all-star Les Misérables staged concert will be broadcast live in cinemas on 2 December, it has been announced. A screening of the all-star staged concert will play across the UK, Ireland and the USA, with tickets going on sale on 4 November. Cameron Mackintosh has also announced an album and DVD release in early 2020 and that the concert production will tour the UK and overseas later in 2020 and in 2021. The production currently stars Alfie Boe as Jean Valjean (with John Owen-Jones taking on the role in certain performances) Michael Ball as Javert, Carrie Hope Fletcher as Fantine, Shan Ako as Eponine, Lily Kerhoas as Cosette, Rob Houchen as Marius, Matt Lucas as Thénardier, Katy Secombe as Madame Thénardier and Bradley Jaden as Enjolras. There will be a lottery to buy tickets and see the filmed performance in-person at the Gielgud Theatre in London, which launches at 12pm on 8 November. Patrons can enter the lottery online from 11:45am, with winners picked at random to book up to 2 tickets for the performance. I thought Matt was a remarkable Thernadier, fit the character to a tee. Nice teeth. Hello! Now, Im not looking to start a war here. I was wondering, instead of thinking about who has been some of the strongest performers across the entirety of Les Misérables musical history (and theres certainly been a multitude of them) Im wondering which performer was the weakest in their role. For the sake of the argument, well included anyone whos been in any large-scale production of Les Mis: the staged concerts, the anniversary edition, the West End, Broadway and nation-wide tours, among others. Who was the weakest in their role, and why? Who did you expect more from, but were left feeling a little disappointed? Please let me know what you think.

I was lucky enough to see this production on 7th October 2019 and it was incredible. Fifth or sixth time I've seen John Owen-Jones sing Valjean and he's peerless. Matt Lucas was also incredible, as were Shan Ako and Carrie Hope Fletcher and Bradley Jaden. I'd love them to do a recording of this run. Gavroche forever. If you were looking for the friendzone song, Eponine starts singing on 4:48. Love it when people call a review bad just because it doesnt align with their opinion. Great review, as someone who has always found the potential of Les Mis to be greater than any production has achieved I thought it was well structured and honest to this persons opinion of the show. YouTube. Why does javert look out of shape. They are both great actors, but Matt's job was a lot harder. In the movie at that part they had an amazing set that really helped with the idea of the Thenardiers. Matt had a stage with a few chairs and wheels. Cannot wait. I can no longer travel to London due to health conditions. I'm super excited. Missed the Manchester show due to ill health and I had tickets. So thank you Les Mis. Carrie Hope Fletcher is my favourite current star. Wow.

The performance started and none of the three were on stage. There was no announcement to say they were all ill. Complaints from all around us. Hundreds complaining afterwards. Really not acceptable. This should have been cancelled and refunds given. Despite having four understudies/alternates it was still as amazing, to say it was a concert I thought the staging was brilliant and added to the event. Went to see the show last evening. I loved it. WORTH A LOOK. WHERE? Gielgud Theatre RUNTIME: 170 minutes (including 20-minute interval) WHEN? 17/8 and runs to 30/11/19 STOP PRESS: Hope Fletcher has been cast as Fantine in Les Miserables at the Sondheim Theatre from 18/12/19 Tickets This years BBC adaptation of Les Miserables was song-free and here that idea is very much reversed with the focus on the score of the behemoth musical with the labyrinthine plot far less well explained. Read on for reasons including which songs in the score work especially well We suspect your experience of this staged concert will very much depend upon how you feel about the concept of a near story-free version because, while we felt it was missing some explanation, the rest of our party was very much enjoying how well these songs were being sung. The strength in depth of the cast is astounding. Boe plays hero Jean Valjean as he is freed from prison and his strong voice is always impressive. Ball is arguably a bigger star and it is gracious of him to play Valjeans nemesis, the policeman Javert who is so unbending that he is completely undone when shown unexpected kindness. Hope Fletcher recently starred to much acclaim in the West End transfer of Heathers and here plays doomed single mother Fantine who does justice to arguably the shows best known song I Dreamed A Dream. If it all sounds rather serious so far, bawdy baddies the Thenardiers are brought vividly to life by Matt Lucas and Katy Secombe who combine pantomime villainy and real fun in the knockabout number Master Of The House. Elsewhere, we very much enjoyed Rob Houchen in Eugenius and he makes for a charming, youthful Marius. While the powerful singing of Bradley Jaden as Enjolras caught our ears. We enjoyed the recent BBC version of Les Miserables but there was a gaping emotional hole where the songs would have been and Boes moving Bring Him Home is especially good here. Shan Ako as doomed lover Eponine makes the most of the tear-jerking On My Own. Its not only the impressive singing that singles out this version of Les Miserables but also the spectacle of a cast of more than 50 accompanied by a 26-strong orchestra. Other members of our party joined the standing ovation with whoops of delight and, while this was a show we very much enjoyed, we think we would have preferred to have seen the original musical in its entirety. I told her I said stayed up until 4:00 am listening to this. I fell asleep in class that day. Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Carrie Hope Fletcher and Matt Lucas starred in a special concert production of Les Miserables in London at the Gielgud Theatre in the West End this summer. The concert production of the Les Miserables musical opened temporarily to the Gielgud Theatre in the summer with this concert production, running from 10 th August 2019 while the Queens Theatre, now renamed the Sondheim Theatre, is refurbished. Michael Ball returned to the production after he starred in its London premiere at the Barbican in 1985. Ball played Marius Pontmercy in the original production, which quickly transferred to the Palace Theatre in the West End. Ball will play Javert in this special concert production of the musical. (See below for days Michael Ball will not be performing. ) Alfie Boe played Jean Valjean in the musical. Ball and Boe have previously toured the country together on numerous occasions, and have released two number one albums together. Boe has previously performed the role of Jean Valjean in the musical at the Queen's in 2011. (See below for note on Alfie Boe's performance schedule. ) Les Miserables In Concert also featured Carrie Hope Fletcher, who heads back to where her career began as a child playing Young Eponine in the musical in 2001. She returned to the production in 2013 to play the older version of the character, and will take on the role of Fantine in the show in this concert production. Fletcher recently starred as Veronica in the West End production of Heathers the Musical. Matt Lucas also appears in the concert. The Little Britain actor takes on the role of Thénardier in the concert after he played the part at a 25 th anniversary concert of the show in 2010, and then took on the role in the full West End production in 2011. The musical premiered at the Barbican Centre in 1985 directed by Trevor Nunn, and starring Michael Ball, Patti LuPone, Colm Wilkinson and Roger Allam. It then transferred to the Palace Theatre during the same year after sweeping success, and then to the Queens Theatre in 2004.
